The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is advising that there was no fire at its power plant on Marcus Garvey Drive on Friday, April 13, contrary to earlier media reports.

"We are aware of an incident at the nearby facilities of an Independent Power Producer, but we do not have details of that incident at this time," said Winsome Callum, Head of Corporate Communications at JPS.

JPS technical teams are continuing internal investigations to determine the exact cause of Friday night's power outage. The Company is expected to submit a report on the outage to the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) within a few days.
